Legal Assist
Legal Assist has been developed for law firms. It is a suite of templates with supporting macros and includes, but is not limited to, the following types of documents:
Letters
Standard text can be added to a document or offered as an option in the macros. The layout and design will be customised for you. For standard letters we can save the text as separate files and use a macro to quickly insert the text into the letter created by the template.
Faxes
Improve the standard of faxes being produced by your firm with Legal Assist. It includes an automated fax cover sheet that, because of ease of use, can be used by anyone. This eliminates hard-to-read and messy hand-written faxes.
Deeds/agreements
This template sets up a cover sheet, which will include the parties to the agreement/deed. They will be incorporated in the introductory clauses and in the attestation/execution clauses. It also sets up paragraph numbering and heading styles appropriate for these types of documents.
Settlement statements
Settlement statements include calculations for rates apportionment and final settlement balances. Appropriate text is automatically inserted for a debit or credit balance. Standard options for rate payments, payment by cheque and insurance etc are included as required.
Memos/file notes
A very easy to use tool that can be used for internal memos or file notes.
Trust statements
Take control over how these look! You may be able to produce this from your trust account, but is it in the format you want? All maths is calculated, with options for subtotalled groups. Appropriate text is automatically inserted for a credit or debit balance, and a remittance advice is optional. Easily recalculate the statement if you modify it.
District, high, family and environment court shell documents
These documents include a front page with appropriate intituling and solicitor details, as well as the page layout required by the courts.
Precedent conversions
Data integrity is essential. Your firm can benefit extensively from the use of our efficient, easy-to-use system. Rather than dealing with the formatting issues of the standard Microsoft Word-based conversion procedure, we can provide macros, procedures and training to assist in the conversion of precedents. Please note an investment of time is still required to actually convert the documents. As part of the package we can also write macros to make using the precedents simple.
Third party tax invoices
This is a tax invoice that can be produced on behalf of your client for the sale of a GST registered property or business. GST is calculated for you.
Tax invoices
Once again – you don’t have to be limited to the format determined by your trust account. With a Word document template you can decide how the final bill will look. All maths is calculated with options for fee-only billing, disbursements only or fee and disbursements. Standard phrases are included or offered as options.

We will provide macros to take advantage of your printer’s capabilities, including multiple bins and an envelope feeder if appropriate. Macros to streamline saving and indexing of documents and for automatic paragraph numbering are also included. Legal Assist integrates with the address books in Outlook, Lawbase and Infinity and development is also planned to integrate with OneLaw once it’s released. As part of developing an automated system we also provide a user’s manual for your staff and recommend training in the use of the system.
